Flag-waving, God bless the troops, sodiers are heroes-propagandism combined with the military heavily influencing policy-making.

Rogue one's battle scenes were more chaotic than force awakens

It's a good read. Mostly theory and military procedure, but very detailed and realistic. The powered battle armor, weaponry, and spacecraft are so richly described it's like Heinlein had a manual written on how to build them. Not quite as much action as your standard Hollywood movie, but it has a very realistic tone, like Black Hawk Down in outer space.
